Since it's inception HIT has been playing a key role in establishing Howrah as one of the twin cities with Kolkata. As an implementing agency of Howrah Interchange of the Second Hooghly Bridge (Vidyasagar Setu), not only it initiated the process of land acquisition and rehabilitation issues, it's highly technical engineers erected three-tier ramps, self designed in conformity with the international standards, like, American Association of State Highway Officials (A.A.S.H.O.). HIT designed and erected large capacity Sewage Treatment Plant, when the concept was at budding stage. Keeping in mind the colossal trouble of housing accommodation, it has already taken up affordable housing schemes on it's own land. With utmost endeavour, it has been acting towards minimizing the enormity of the problems faced by the people of Howrah and is committed at the service of the people of Howrah.
